At the invitation of Kettering University , Wayne State University and Ontario Technology University, an official delegation led by Vice President Jian Wei paid a visit to the above-mentioned US and Canadian universities from September 25th to October 2nd. Mr. Liu Hongsheng, Director of Human Resources Department, Zhou Peng, Party Secretary of the College of Electrical and Information Engineering and Fang Peng, Director of the International Students Office participated in the visit.
During the visit to Kettering University, Jian Wei and Mr. James Zhang, Vice President of Kettering University, reviewed the long-term friendship between the two universities ever since 2012. The two parties reached a consensus on promoting the “2+2” dual degree joint education program for undergraduate and the exchange between The F1 Formula Team of the College Students as well as a further cooperation in scientific research and discipline construction.
During the visit of Wayne State University, the HUAT delegation met with Mr. Whitfield, Vice President of WSU, Ms. Sharon Lean, Associate Dean of Graduate School, Mr. Fotouhi, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Mr. Simon Ng, Associate Dean of College of Engineering, who exchanged opinions on further promoting the "3+2" joint master education program as well as exchange between the faculty and students from two universities.During the visit, the delegation also paid a visit to HUAT visiting scholars, the students and alumni in the Wayne State University. Jian Wei asked them in detail about their study and life in the United States, and encouraged them to carry forward the traditions of diligence and hard working for active promoting the joint education program between HUAT and WSU. It is reported that ever since the implementation of the program in 2013, nearly 40 students from HUAT have pursued their further study in USA, most of whom choose to continue to work in the United States and experience a different life.
During the visit to the Ontario Technology University, the HUAT delegation visited teaching facilities, libraries and student dormitories, and watched the classroom teaching in the language learning center for a better understanding of the studying and living conditions of international students, which will be a significant guidance for HUAT‘s international education. The delegation held a conference with the OTU. The two sides expressed their willingness to further strengthen cooperation, promote the exchange between the faculty and students from two universities as well as to introduce overseas intellectuals and high-level talents. During the visit, Jian Wei also had an exchange with Professor He Yuping, as well as HUAT visiting scholar in Ontario Technology University.
This visit to USA and Canadian universities played a positive role in promoting joint education programs and exchanges of researchers between KU,WSU,OTU and HUAT.
