With waste newspapers, old cardboards and other recycled paper materials, HUAT students created an inspiring clothing fashion design launch--the College of Art and Design was established recently based on the university strategic layout of discipline construction project for the target of optimizing designing educational resources with the integration of engineering technology and traditional culture to cultivate designing talents with combination of distinctive features and professional knowledge as well as applied innovative capabilities.

Great importance has been attached to the preparation of College of Art and Design. On the afternoon of December 7th, President Zhong Yuning went to College of Art and Design to conduct research and guidance. Zhong Yuning listened carefully to the report from the college and communicated with the faculty. He affirmed the teaching activities, scientific research and social services from the design major, and placed ardent hopes on the development of the new college.

On the afternoon of December 2, Yang Lizhi, deputy secretary of the HUAT ’s party committee, went to the College of Art and Design to conduct research and supervision. Yang Lizhi listened carefully to the report of the College of Art and Design, focusing on the problems and difficulties encountered in the development of the new for the 14th “Five-Year Plan" in terms of funding support, scientific research platform construction, and faculty resources.
