On the morning of January 19th, the unveiling ceremony of School of Robotics and Automation was held in the Qiangguo Building. Chen Haifeng, Chairman of the University Trade Union, and all faculty of the school attended the ceremony.

The School of Robotics and Automation was established in January 2025, with its predecessor being the Department of Electrical Engineering of Hubei University of Automotive Technology founded in 1983.
Among the full-time faculty, 50% hold associate senior titles or above, and 30% have doctoral degrees. The school boasts 1 expert enjoying special government allowances from the provincial government, 2 municipal-level talents, 1 provincial-level teaching team, and 1 Shiyan Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Strategic Team. Currently, it has over 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students on campus.
Following the pace of industrial development, the school focuses on building advantageous disciplines and programs. It offers two first-level disciplines: Control Science and Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. Among them, Control Science and Engineering is a provincial key discipline and a doctoral program construction discipline of the university, while "Control Theory and Control Engineering" is a provincial-positioned discipline. The school has an academic master's degree authorization point in Control Science and Engineering, as well as three professional master's degree authorization points in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Energy Storage Technology. It also houses several provincial-level teaching and research platforms, such as the Automobile Manufacturing Automation Branch of the National Engineering Research Center for Digital Manufacturing Equipment, and the Hubei Provincial Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center.
The school offers four undergraduate programs: Automation, Electrical Engineering and Its Automation, Robotics Engineering, and Smart Grid Information Engineering. Among these, the Automation program has passed the engineering education professional certification. Automation and Electrical Engineering and Its Automation are rated as Hubei Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Programs, while Robotics Engineering and Smart Grid Information Engineering are emerging engineering programs. Four courses including "Electrical and Electronic Technology" are recognized as Hubei Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Courses.
Centering on key technical issues in the field of automotive industry automation, such as electric drive, robotics, intelligent monitoring and control of equipment, and visual inspection, the school has established a "one research and three commercializations" scientific and technological innovation service mechanism—covering scientific research and development, achievement incubation, achievement transformation, and industrialization of achievements—through joint team building, co-development of products, and co-construction of channels with enterprises. It possesses distinct advantages in industry-education integration. In recent years, the school has undertaken more than 20 national-level scientific research projects (including key/general programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Science and Technology Support Program, and National Science and Technology Major Projects) as well as provincial and ministerial-level projects, and over 100 enterprise-commissioned projects. It has won 8 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards and published nearly 200 teaching and scientific research papers.
Through industry-education integration, project-driven teaching, and case-based teaching, the school has proposed and practiced an application-oriented talent training model for automotive industry automation featuring "four integrations and four connections", achieving remarkable results. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 95% for a long time.
