School of Digital Economy

The School of Digital Economy was established in January 2025, by the former School of Economics and Management, the School of Mathematics and Opt-electronics Engineering and the School of Electrical and Information Engineering  for promoting advantages of the disciplines and professional optimization and reorganization. The school has a long history, the earliest origin can be traced back to the establishment of the Basic Course Department in 1978, the establishment of the Industrial Enterprise Management Teaching and Research Office in September 1982 and the establishment of the Computing Station in 1983.

The school has four departments: Digital Economy Department, Mathematics and Statistics Department, Automotive Big Data Department, and Public Mathematics Department. As well as academic master's degree in statistics and professional master's degree in digital economy. At present, there are more than 1,000 full-time undergraduates and 68 postgraduate students.

The school has gathered a group of faculty from well-known universities and enterprises at home and abroad. There are 5 professors and 17 doctors in the school. Many teachers have won the honorary titles of "Hubei Young Teaching Expert", "Shiyan Young Post Expert", "Excellent Teacher Model of the School" and so on. The school has 4 provincial-level first-class courses, 1 excellent grass-roots teaching organization, more than 10 self-compiled textbooks, and 1 national planning textbook.

The school shares and builds practical education platforms such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Specialized and Special New Industry College, Hubei Experimental Training Base and Hubei off-campus practice base. It has established high-level research bases and intelligent tank platforms such as Hubei Key Humanities and Social Science Base for Research on New energy and Intelligent Networked Automobile Industry, Northwest Hubei Development Research Institute, and Green Low-carbon Research Institute.

In recent years, in the research and completion of provincial and ministerial level above 24 teaching and scientific research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, the Ministry of Education humanities and social science projects 8, published ESI highly cited papers and SCI, SSCI papers more than 300, top journals more than 30.
