College of Electronic and Information Engineering

The College of Electronic and Information Engineering (CEIE), founded in January 2009, is developed and formed through the integration of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronic Information Science and the Computing Center, CEIE has created a multidisciplinary space for education and research.

Faculty

At present, CEIE has 109 faculty members, including 13 Professors, 31 Associate Professors and Senior Engineers. One of the faculty members is recognized as National Model of Teacher’s Morality, and two other teachers are granted special government subsidy by the Government of Hubei Province. Many of our faculty members have been selected for various talent projects or awards. For example, one teacher is granted Leading Scholar in Scientific and Technologic Innovation by the Leading School in Scientific and Technologic Innovation Project funded by the Government of Shiyan City. Several other teachers who are selected for other talent projects have been recognized as Innovative Research Group of VENAT founded by the Education Department of Hubei Province. At the same time, we also have more than 10 renowned scientists and entrepreneur working as academic consultant or visiting scholar.

Teaching and Learning

We offer both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in three departments, including the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Electrical Information Engineering and the Department of Computer Engineering. These departments offer courses in 7 research areas, namely, automation, electrical engineering, electronic information science and technology, electronic information engineering, internet of things project, computer science and technology, and software engineering. Among them, the Major of Automation is accredited as key major by the Education Department of Hubei Province. Both the Major of Automation and the Major of Electronic Information Engineering are funded by the Emerging Strategic Industry Plan of Hubei Province.  At the same time，the course Electric and Electronic Technology is recognized as a high-quality open course by the Education Department of Hubei Province. Our teachers have won more than 40 provincial and school-level teaching achievement awards

The disciplinary development and graduate education are of paramount importance to us. Through years of efforts, we have built up two province-level disciplines: Signal and Information Processing and Control Theory and Control Engineering. We have gained the academic graduate program of Electronic Information from the Education Department of Hubei Province, and our application for discipline authorized to offer Master’s Degree program in Control Science and Engineering has been recommend by the Government of Hubei Province.  

We have a total enrollment of 2294 undergraduates and 73 graduates. We are dedicated to quality-oriented education and the all-around development of our students. Our students are encouraged to participate in various science competitions, and have won hundreds of awards in all kinds of international, national and provincial contests. For example, a MOS World Championship Prize, several Second Prizes in National Undergraduate Electronics Design Contest, a Grand Prize in the National Undergraduate Embedded System Design Contest, a First Prize in National Automation Control App Design Contest, a Third Prize in the Next General Internet Technology Innovation Contest, etc. Our alumni are highly popular in the labor market, with a total employment rate of over 95% for several consecutive years.

Research Centers and Academic Achievements

We have set up eight provincial research centers, including National Engineering Research Center for Manufacturing Equipment Digitalization (Automotive Manufacture Division), Automotive Intelligent Connection Network and Electronic Control Engineering Technology Research Center, Computer Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Automotive Electronics and Information Control Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center, Hubei Outsourcing Service Talent Training Base, etc. And two school-level research institutes, namely, the Institute of Automotive Information Control and Network Technology and the Institute of Automotive Intelligent Manufacturing. At the same time, the college is committed to industry-university-research cooperation, and cooperates with enterprises to build a number of provincial and ministerial engineering technology research centers, nearly 20 innovative training bases and platforms, as well as dozens of industry-education -research bases for internship.

In recent years, we have made great progress in teaching and scientific research. Our faculty members have undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation Project, the National 863 Project, the National Science and Technology Support Plan Project, various provincial projects, and several other projects funded by Dongfeng Motor Company as well as other enterprises. Our research findings have won a series of awards, including

over 10 provincial awards and 50 municipal scientific awards. There are also dozens of authorized invention patents, and more than 100 utility model patents and software copyrights. Our researchers have published more than 30 monographs and textbooks, as well as nearly 1,000 research papers indexed by EI, SCI and ISTP.

We strive to build a first-class institution in the education and research of Electronic and Information Engineering.
