In order to further enhance the safety of teaching and the education of new students at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year, the College of International Education has carried out various forms of themed educational activities from multiple perspectives, strengthening the discipline and safety awareness of international students coming to China.

On September 1st, Zhu Zhanwei, the Dean of the College of International Education, visited the international student apartments, inspecting safety hazards, having heart-to-heart talks with key students to understand their summer experiences and plans for the new semester, and encouraging students to embrace the new semester with a healthy and positive mindset.

On September 3rd, Zhang Tingting, a counselor from the College of International Education, invited some students to the one-stop community in student dormitories for psychological counseling and conversations, addressing related issues to solve students' academic and life confusions at the ideological level.

On the morning of September 4th, the College of International Education held a general meeting for all international students and a freshman welcome meeting. Freshmen were invited to introduce themselves, and some students showcased their summer experiences. BIDDUT, a student from Bangladesh, shared his gains and insights from the 2023 China-ASEAN "Zhi&Xing Guizhou Silk Road" program. ELHOUSSAINI, a student from Morocco, shared his experiences attending language and culture training at North China University of Technology, encouraging fellow students to study hard and cherish the opportunity to explore more places in China and experience its cultural diversity.

To improve management efficiency and address difficulties, Zhang Tingting, the international student counselor, established a mentor contact mechanism to assist teachers in discovering problems and promptly solving issues for freshmen and those facing challenges. She also explained to international students the regulations on academic management, scholarship assessment rules, and regulations for managing the international student apartment. Guidance on using the education administration system, graduate information management system, and "Students' Apartment of HUAT" was provided to ensure the orderly and smooth operation of students' teaching and living. New students were organized to report to the International Office in an orderly manner, guiding them through temporary accommodation registration, obtaining SIM cards, bank cards, purchasing insurance, and filling out visa application materials.

Vice Dean Fang Peng lectured on the implementation details of religious belief management for international students, the regulations on the entry and exit of foreigners, and China's anti-drug regulations on the morning of September 4th. He emphasized the need to raise awareness and guard against telecom fraud at the beginning of the semester, rejecting any renting of SIM cards, bank cards, or personal information.

Dean Zhu Zhanwei expressed that all international students should welcome the new semester with a new identity and emphasized the continuous adoption of a convergence management model. Students should enhance their discipline and safety awareness to ensure a safe and successful study abroad experience.

In the afternoon of September 4th, Vice Dean Fang Peng provided national education to all international students, furthering their understanding of China's overall situation as a prerequisite for studying in China and abiding by Chinese laws and regulations. Later, all international students visited the school's history museum. The museum not only explained the school's historical development and past leaders but also highlighted the challenging journey and hard work of predecessors in the school's development. Seeing the panoramic view of the school, international students expressed affirmation and anticipation for the school's development.

Initial work and new student education are ongoing tasks. The College of International Education plans to increase the intensity of Chinese language training for international students in the future and organize orderly visits to the school's science and innovation center, enabling international students to further integrate into the environment and contribute to the school's development.
