 Wang Detao Won Prizes in the International Art Design Contest

Recently, "Public Chopsticks" and "Smart Crutches" by Wang Detao, a 2017 student majoring in product design, stood out during the Singapore International Art Design Competition and won the silver and bronze awards respectively.

The competition was initiated by the Ministry of Press and Art of Singapore and hosted by the Visual Arts Department of The National Arts Council of Singapore. There were 2,680 contestants and 4,458 works in China. A total of 51 universities have organized teams to participate in the competition.


After getting the theme of the competition, under the guidance of Teacher Cheng Yanming, Wang Detao repeatedly formulated and modified the scheme, which fully trained his professional abilities such as hand-drawing and software modeling.The design of smart crutches and public chopsticks reflects the careful polishing and innovation of the contestants, which are the key to winning prizes in this competition.

This year's competition has attracted many universities and designers from various countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region.


After fierce competition in the preliminary and semi-final competitions, the international judges only selected 1 gold award, 46 silver awards, 177 bronze Awards, 386 excellence Awards and 1,779 finalists awards among the 4,458 works in the Chinese competition area.

This competition is a beneficial attempt for HUAT students to participate in international high-level design competitions.
