 International students experience the Dragon Boat Festival

On June 11, 2021, when the Dragon Boat Festival is approaching, in order for international students to experience the strong festival atmosphere, the International Office organized a unique Dragon Boat Festival event. Participants in this event were Vice President Zhang Hongxia, Deputy Director ofICEOSu Zibo, related faculties of the ICEO, Frenchinternational faculty Joel and all international students.

At 8:30 in the morning, the entire team of international students arrived at the Huaguoshan Research Base. Under the leadership of the teachers of the base, the students visited the tea art museum, the pottery art museum, the Guoxue society, the calligraphy room, the traditional Chinese medicine museum and many other indoor experience halls of Chinese culture. The students showed a strong interest in these traditional displays. Feel the tea culture, experience the sight, smell and inquiries, smiles are overflowing on their faces, and these cultural imprints are deeply imprinted in their hearts.

Later,all international students came to the Chinese Food Museum. Teacher Penn Fang first explained the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival to the students. The students learned to make zongzi(Rice Dumplings) by themselve to experience the traditional culture of the Dragon Boat Festival. The students also learned to make flowers and eggs,thencarry out activities such as dry-land dragon boats, and tasting rice wine. They not only felt the strength of unity but also felt the joy of the festival.

At 12:00, a feast of tastestarts. The homemade rice dumplings, eggs with flowers and herbs, and self-service barbecue made the students excited. Vice presidentZhang Hongxia extended holiday greetings to the international students on behalf of theuniversity, and cordially asked their Chinese names and shook hands with them one by one.She also tasted the dumplings wrapped by the foreign students, and there was a lot of laughter at the scene.

The activity is drawing to a close, and thegood memories linger on.They excitedly said: "This is the most memorable Dragon Boat Festival we have spent in China!". This event not only created a strong festive atmosphere, but also provided international students with the opportunity to fully experience Chinese culture, which is beneficial to people-to-people communication and cultural dissemination.
